Summer Workshops - Master/Pieces 2001
Return to: Current Summer Workshops 2002/2003
#1 Oakland Ballet Academy Day Camp
(one week, 10am-6pm)
Spend the week dancing with Ronn Guidi, Founding Artistic Director of the Oakland Ballet. This wonder-filled week will include special classes designed specially for Ballet Petit students including Pantomime, studies of four great ballets, and special insights from Ronn himself, creator of his own Romeo & Juliet, The Secret Garden, Nutcracker, and more. Bring your own lunch.
#2 Master Classes with your Favorite Retired Oakland Ballet Ballerina
(selected Saturdays, 2001 Studio A, 10am-12pm)
Ballerinas: A Master Class is a specially designed coaching session focusing on a particular point of training. Take advantage of these four opportunities to discover first hand why these dancers are so magical on stage. Polish your own dancing by learning from them. Take your pick, or take them all, but don't miss your chance!
Joy Gim
Now that Miss Joy teaches regularly for us, don't take her wealth of experience for granted! This summer Joy will focus on style and finish in portraying roles on stage. Joy will also address behind the scene topics such as stage make-up, a dancer's health, and other helpful hints that have helped regular dancers become ballerinas.
#3 Water Ballet Course
(one week, 10am-12:30 pm, Meyer Pool in Fremont)
Jo Ann Jung, instructor. Bring your dancing into the pool and discover a new freedom of movement, underwater! Many of you already know Jo Ann from your experiences with Oakland Ballet. Did you know that Jo Ann has also had years of experience teaching water ballet in the city of Oakland Rec. Dept. programs? Join us at the pool for an hour lesson followed by an hour of play to horse around and practice what you've learned. And remember, no pointe shoes allowed!
#4 Fairy Princess Day Camp
(one week, 2001 1pm-4pm)
Come and be a fairy princess for this fun filled week of ballet fantasy.
Enjoy story time, make your own wand and tiara, do your hair like the ballet princesses, act out scenes from your favorite princess ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella, Nutcracker, etc.
